Wild Asia, FOKD and AMP Radio's: Plant a Tree for the Planet!

"Plant a Tree for the Planet" is a green event organized by Wild Asia, AMP Radio Networks and Friends of Kota Damansara (FOKD). Come join us on June 21st and plant a tree with your favourite radio Deejays! Spend a Sunday outdoors with family or friends and support the protection of our green spaces. What's more, the event will be buzzing with fun-filled activities that you just cannot miss!

Why the Tree Party?

We have grown to take environmental awareness for granted as we only take action on specific days such as Earth Day or World Environmental Day (WED). In most cases, the spirit ends as the day ends. We need to start realizing that being eco-friendly transcends every other day; the purpose of these events does not stop at raising awareness, but to instill and encourage lifelong practices and habits into our daily lives. Only then can we see the positive impacts from the decisions that we make.

Green Events

A lot of planning, managing and hard work goes into organizing a big event and most of the time, the organizers leave out one crucial point: sustainability. Events can be fun, but if they are not properly managed can also be destructive. Not just donning our green hats, we want this year's event to instigate a string of similar events that aim to reduce their impact on the environment and hope that in time, sustainability will be ingrained in event management and planning.

Why is this a green event?

It's about communicating the need to safeguard our green spaces and raising environmental awareness among the general public.
We want to support people in communities who are working to keep green spaces alive.
We want to measure all the waste generated from this event to understand what kind of impact these events have on our environment.
We want to use this event to directly support environmental and social causes and projects.

Plant-a-Tree for the Planet- AMP Tree Party

In conjunction with World Environment Day, Wild Asia, AMP Radio Networks and FOKD are joining hands to safeguard our community forest for a greener future. It will be a day dedicated to support environmental efforts, engage urban communities and plant trees pledged by loyal listeners and corporate partners. Details on the event are as follow:

Good News!

SELANGOR Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim announced that the state government will gazette the Kota Damansara Community Forest as a forest reserve in three months’ time.

“Once it is gazetted as a forest, any proposed development must be presented to the public as the public has a say in the forest reserve. We will also let the community take care of the forest,” said Khalid, whose announcement was received with loud cheers at the Earth Day Celebrations at the Kota Damansara Community Forest.
